Draft — to be reviewed by our lawyer
This is a short, plain-words draft of how we look after your information. It hasn't been checked by a lawyer yet and will change before launch.
Who we are
Merriwell is run by Britten (UK) Ltd, a UK company. When this notice says "we", that is who we mean. We are the controller of the personal data described here under UK data protection law.
What we keep
- Your account. Your email address and the name you give us.
- Your wedding. The date, the names, the venue, your guest estimate and budget, if you add them.
- Your plan. Checklist items, tasks and anything else you put into our tools. Before you have an account, this stays in your own browser and doesn't reach us.
- How the site is used. Simple counts of what gets used, such as "someone opened the checklist", kept under a random code, not your name.
Your guests' details
When you add guests, we keep the names, addresses and answers you enter, for you and for the people you share your wedding with. We only ask a guest for dietary details if they agree to give them. A guest can ask us to show or remove their details through the link they were sent, without making an account.
AI help
If you ask the AI planner for help, we send it the parts of your plan it needs to answer. It only works with your own wedding. It does nothing that changes your plan unless you say yes. We keep a record of each request so we can see how it's used and what it costs.
Photos
Photos that you and your guests upload are stored for your wedding. The couple can see and remove them. Guests only see what the couple chooses to share.
Keeping and deleting your information
You can download everything we hold about your wedding, and you can delete it. If a paid plan ends, we keep your information for 90 days, warn you first, and then delete it. Asking us to delete your information also cancels any subscription.
Cookies and similar things
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, to remember which version of the site you chose (UK or US), and to keep your work in the tools. We don't use advertising cookies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to see, correct, export or delete your information, and to object to how we use it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Ask us and we'll help.
